I have worked in the NHS for 33yrs and have various professional qualifications-my background is in Nursing- Registered General Nurse, Registered midwife, Occupational Health Sister and Registered Health Visitor. My interest in Maternal Mental Health and Psychological care led me into the Primary Care Mental Health Team and training and qualifying as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist at Postgraduate Diploma level at Durham University. For the past 11yrs I have worked as a CBT Psychotherapist both in the NHS in various levels of care and had a private practice for 7yrs whilst also working for private providers. I also have a qualification in Counselling and a Diploma in Sports Deep Tissue Body Massage. My passion lies in people turning their life and mindset around with CBT and I treat each person as an individual with an idiosyncratic approach. My strengths lie not only in my approachable and practical approach. It also in my skills and areas of practice and training. These include Physical Health, Mental and Emotional Health, Parent/ Child Health, Maternal Health, Occupational Health and Stress in the Workplace and Group work i.e. Mindfulness and use of Acceptance and Commitment therapy for Bereavement and Loss of various presentations.
I am a member of the Professional Body for CBT - the BABCP, maintaining my professional Accreditation on a yearly basis whilst still upholding my Nursing qualifications and Registration with the Nursing body the NMC. As well CBT I undertake Management duties and am a Clinical Supervisor for CBT Therapist
